9:11 am - Let's get this party started!
So, at long last
the Lair of Despair is back in full swing, this time with
new pages and features and a great layout, IMHO. It's still
under construction though (you may notice a right hand sidebar
that is empty), but I will assure you I am no longer procrastinating
the legacy that is my HTML achievements. You might be wondering
why it took so long to rebuild the site, especially since
it uses a pretty simple layout. Well truth is I've been putting
it off and playing games... Now though I don't seem to be
playing games as much as fiddling around with making them,
writing stories, and being part of the net community again.
I also feel that it's time I get my fucking rants going again
(and quite possibly audio rants), because putting rants on
my LiveJournal
page just seems to take up the space there, and since most
of my rants aren't about my life, I just thought they a place
to call home.
Well, as I have mentioned on my LiveJournal (for those of
you who have read it), I got MoZilla which is like Netscape
in that it uses all HTML tags including
blink and marquee, and because of this, I am encorperating
these into my page. The title at the top (which you will need
to download this
font to view) is scrolling text. If it's not scrolling
your browser doesn't display the <marquee> codes, and
therefore sucks chode. I will be using the <blink> tag
on the right bar for page update notifications, so test it
on this: "."
Again, if the text within the quotations doesn't blink, you
have an inferior browser, and I suggest you download MoZilla
Firebird, a great open source browser that is fully customizable,
extendable, and faster. Don't forget to get the flash plugin
for it (or any other browser you use) because my site requires
flash for the nav menu to your left.
The games section currently has nothing availible for it,
except for the information about the kind of projects I will
be trying to do. It doesn't necissarily mean I will
actually acomplish anything, but a friend and I are learning
advanced C++ functions, and I myself already have a pretty
damn good grasp of C and C-script. The problem comes with
the fact that we are two programmers and only have limited
artistic ability, I.E. we can't do art or model, modeling
3D animations is more of a hobby than a skill at this moment.
I can do anime type sprites which is okay for the first few
projects I am working on though, so it's not much a problem
yet.
Now for one last
segment before I sign off an add content to the other sections
of the page, though it's a question more than a statement.
If anyone knows how to make tables into frames, please tell
me, I will give you a cookie if you do.
I should also state that one of the features I wanted on this
site was the ability for multiple webmasters to edit the page
remotely (like at any PC terminal connected to the net without
accessing the FTP) along a template with individual sigs and
text styles, etc. Sadly, my host, Web1000.com, while good
to me, doesn't allow PHP scripting, which is the minimum required
thing I needed to at least be able to edit the page remotely.
I would have also needed a MySQL server to have multiple accounts
with different settings. I guess it doesn't matter, I don't
really know of anyone who would want to (or even had the ability)
to edit the page in a functional manner. I was thinking Andrew
but when I saw his web page work... ~shutters~ Well,
sorry Andrew, but you just don't have the ability to make
a page with good Feng Shui. If you learn the three Cs, Color,
Contrast, and Content, as well as a vision of your own and
not a template, then you might be able to get something going.
I guess I am a little better at it since HTML was the first
language... erm... you know what I mean, to learn, and since
I keep exploring it, I am always getting better at it. I really
had to learn it since my first site was hosted by AngelFire
and if you didn't know HTML you wouldn't be able to have much
of a site, just a title, maybe a background pic, and body
text. If you actually get a book on HTML (I would pity your
mother for wasting money since you can find great HTML guides
on the net but I digress) and study the language for a few
days, you could be making some PHAT sites. Of course this
extends not only to my friend, Andrew, but also to anyone
reading this. Well, I am going to go upload this and get back
to work on the rest of the site. ~Ciao~
